Video Production
Frodo and Recon's efforts on a 476th video have gotten me interested in video stuff as well. Do y'all have any recommendations on software? Things like adding radio effects, video editing, being able to do a video with a cockpit view and Tacview side-by-side or picture-in-picture. I'm not looking at starting a second career in digital production, just something to on occasion. I may not get around to actually doing anything with it but if the software is reasonable and not too steep of a learning curve, I'll probably give it a shot. There are a few ideas I've had here at the 476th and in my day job over the years.

My recommendation would be Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 14. Way, way, cheaper than Adobe premiere with all the features you'd ever actually use (and a few more), and way more powerful than Premiere elements.

If you want a free, easy, and very basic program you can go for Windows Story Remix (the successor of Windows Movie Maker). If you want pretty much everything you can wish for as a home user in one program you should go for Adobe Premiere. It's like the Photoshop for video creation/editing. Though you may face a challenge or two in acquiring it..
I believe Eddie's also into Adobe's stuff (though that might be only for photos).
EDIT - There ya go: :sniper:

What Eddie said. Premiere elements is a nightmare, way too many limitations that are there only to push their main editing software suite. Never used sony vegas as in the professional world we are all about AVID/Final Cut/Premiere Pro but i heard a lot of good things about it.

Hi,
I mainly use Blender : https://www.blender.org/
The UI is not really intuitive, but still, its open source, powerfull and free.
For the audio, I use Audacity ( http://www.audacityteam.org/ ).

I use Resolve, it's more a grading tool but does simple editing as-well.

Recon and I both have Premier 14, it took me about an hour to get the basics figured out and the short videos I posted are done in 14. Ease of use in my mind is better than most and tons of YouTube videos for more advanced items.

Either Adobe Premier or Vegas Movie Studio. Personally I use Premiere Pro but only because that's what I've always used, and it comes as part of the Adobe Suite. If you just want one video product Premiere Elements is quite limited, and Pro is was too expensive!

Frodo and I use Sony Vegas Platinum, which I believe was recently sold to Magix.

Thanks for the inputs. It seems Vegas Studio is going to be it as I can't justify the cost and subscription for Premiere. Currently playing around with Blender and some 3D modeling. 3ds Max looks interesting but its even more than Premiere. I miss the days when you could just buy a software program instead of this subscription crap.
