    Ah ha moment

Coming back from lunch today, I spotted a 4 ship landing. As #3 was coming in on final, the A-10 was approximately 50 to 100 feet overhead. Staff drive at Tinker runs along the north end of the run way. It was spooky because it sounded exactly like when viewing the aft end in external view with a little doppler affect thrown in. Way too cool.

Hehe! I used to sit at the west end of the runway at Kelly AFB (MAC) and have the F-4s and C-5s come right overhead at about 100 feet. You could see the wake turbulence given off by the Phantom IIs as it flattened the weeds on either side of us. There was a spot on the golf course between Kelly and Lakland where you could hear the WT off the C-5s hit the tree tops and watch them move. Most awesome.

(Kelly is gone. Before that they finally closed the road that lead to the EOR spot. )

C5's landing at Altus will scare the crap out of you before you realise there is a runway right next the highway. It looks like they are crash landing, but it is actually touching down about 50 yards north and a few feet below the highway.

The Tinker golf course is right under the approach to NW. You can here the CENC on the nozzle open and close when an F-15 is coming in to land.

I used to work on and around Wright Patterson AFB and all manners of planes would fly in and out. After 9-11, we pulled MP duty at the Dayton Int. Air Show and got first hand looks, rides, and to sit in many cockpit in the evenings.
