    Now THAT was emotional

Thanks to a rather sneaky SA-9 in Kutaisi city, I had a rather "exciting & emotional" landing on the DS earlier.

The SA-9 managed to take the outer part of my right wing off, and the right aileron with it. Then to top it all off, along with more avionics faults than there is time to list, I actually had a dual hydraulic failure for the first time ever in DCS resulting in me having to switch to man reversion.

I will say this, flying in MRFCS with only one aileron and half a wing missing is bloody HARD work. It was genuinely painful by the end as I had to keep full left stick and at least 50% left rudder in to keep the jet level.

The landing was a but hot in the end, as without airspeed indication, and having no working radios with which to contact my wingman to help me out, I had to come in a bit fast. The end result was "interesting". Bt you know what they say, any landing you can walk away from.......

Anyway, I managed to capture the approach and landing on FRAPS,the video starts after I've stabilised in man reversion having gone flown south to avoid enemy airspace and then turned east to head for Kobuleti.

    P.S.

The soundtrack is raw & uncut, so you get to hear my grunts, groans, out loud thoughts and outbursts.

    That'll buff right out.

Can't believe you managed to "park" it right between the three HAS, albeit sans wings.

Great job, Eddie. The stopping part is really funny

But may I ask why you didn't decide for a straight-in approach? Look at the wind direction, you almost had a perpendicular crosswind without much effect on the selection of the runway

It was much, much easier and safer to make a left turn than a right turn. So as I needed to make quite a major left then right to line up for a straight in, I went for a downwind and left base turn.

That was a fantastic video! I hope I wasn't responsible for the placement of that SA-9
