    Waterbombers

Still on holiday in the South of France. Today there was a big wildfire across the valey.
There were a minimum of 9 waterbombers involved getting the fire out.
Was nice to see them spinning in a wheel around the area, until it was there time to turn in.

It was about 10 miles away, but with my 500mm lens, I still could grab a couple of videos of them going in.
    (unedited, best watched in fullscreen)

No, I little more North. About a 30km from Carcasonne we were. (arrived last night back home after a 13 hour drive )

It's scary to see the plane in the 3th movie having the violent pitch down after he did his drop.

Looks like some good Canadian engineering at work there protecting your vacationing ass Stuka.

First two vids include probably Bombardier CL-415s, while the third one has to be a Dash 8. Apparently they're all stationed in Marseilles.

I think I know what the thing with the Dash is. When they're loaded they're very tail heavy. Dropping all that retardant probably created a nose forward tendency. Nevertheless it hardly appeared to affect the climb. The Dash is a beast of a climber so I guess the sudden lightness more than made up for the forward pitch.

Or they could have gone with some good ol American engineering and knock out the fire on one pass as well as cover the entire town and Stuka in red fire retardant!

Bigger is always better, just ask Texas!

We get a lot of wildfires her in California... I'm surprised there's even forest left to burn, but here's a couple with DC-10's in them..
