Quite pleased with the end result for ep2, I don't sound like a complete idiot, which is nice. Although I did say uhm a LOT in the intro.

Don't worry Eddie, I've got the idiot covered
Just listened to the both of them. Especially loved how you shared your views on running a vFG with us!
Thanks for another great podcast, I loved the discussion about combined operations and think it’s a brilliant idea. I think this would be welcomed by other squadrons but it may be a bit of work to pull together.
If you want to implement this I would recommend you follow some sort of project management methodology as described below. It doesn’t have to be labour intensive or super formal, but rather a guide to keep in the back of your head, rather than just jumping straight into what you think may be the solution.
Some suggestions for a starting point would be:
·*********to set up a common areas where people can share information e.g. Eagle dynamics forum, Google docs, Google Sheets, drop box etc
·*********Get contact details for squadrons (I think there is a squadron page in the ED forum)
·*********Gather info using tools like survey monkey or Google sheets.
If you do end up going forwards with this, id be happy to help.
Cheers

*
Stage 1 - Info gathering
·*********Who are the Stakeholders?
o***What stakeholder groups are there – other squadrons, Sim pilots, ED etc
o***What may their needs and wants be? Fun, belonging, formal structure etc.
o***How are they structured
§**Organisation structure/ Ranking system
§**Are they well organised?
§**Formal or informal
§**Time zones
§**Level of experience
Stage 1 – Outputs
·*********Building the project team
o***Project manager – Who is going to be responsible
o***Project team – these guys do the work each has different skills
o***Sponsor –has power and influence, people listen to them when they speak.
·*********Stakeholder engagement plan – key messages, comms channels etc
Stage 2 - Needs analysis (Your needs and needs of stakeholders)
·*********What are the key outcomes to be achieved? E.g. Inter squadron standards, squadron leaders meeting forum, inter squadron training/ online whiteboard sessions
·*********What will success look like? E.g. Everyone can fly together more effectively and efficiently, increase standard of flying, increased enjoyment, increased inter squadron engagement.
·*********Review of what is currently in place
o***What works well?
o***What doesn’t work well at all?
o***What can be improved?
Stage 2 – Outputs
·*********An understanding of the importance of the project with other stakeholders
·*********A high level statement of needs and wants (you may have to challenge some of these)
·*********A indicative scale of the size of the project.
*
Stage 3 – Developing a solution that meet all needs (note - the solution you want may not be the solution everyone else wants)
·*********Team brainstorming of solutions
·*********Create a work breakdown structure (linear list of tasks against a timeframe e.g. a Gantt chart). Complex projects can be broken into phases and tasks bundled into phases.
·*********Establish a baseline to track tasks against and an effective way of monitoring tasks.
Stage 3 - Outputs
·*********A project plan is created and understood, the team they know what they are responsible for and what is expected of them. Note - Stakeholders need to be involved with tasks to give them ownership. If they are not involved you will end up trying to sell your solution to them afterwards.
·*********A task monitoring system is established and understood.
*
stage 4 – Implementation
·*********Completion of tasks
·*********Tracking and monitoring of tasks
·*********Quality management* - how are you going to manage any quality issues with tasks completed
*
Stage 4 - Outputs
·*********Task or Phase sign off
Really enjoying the podcast and I'm a big fan of podcasts in general.
One thing I thought would be cool, which have proberbly been suggested before, is talk a bit about some missions you've run, some highlights, fun/cool stuff that happened...I listen to a few tabletop battlegame podcasts where they do this with games played, dunno if it'll translate to DCS though.

Brethren, we've got our first 3rd party dev interview confirmed!

If you wouldn't mind, please support this thread and add a question or two for VEAO on the ED forums here. I'm sure with this lot we can come up with something interesting to ask
And there's a second 3rd party interview that looks pretty much confirmed as well.
