The reason for my new foundation:

    http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desk...80/performance

Look to the left of the chart to find my GTS 250 and then look to the right of the chart to find Joyrides GTX 680......is it just me or does the 680s line look like its 3 times higher than my 250!?! I'm going to cry..... even if I don't even know what the numbers mean!

I'm sticking with ATI. Sole reason for that is, my motherboard does not support SLI, but it does support CrossFire. Hence forth the expansion capabilities

I was always using nVIDIA graphic adaptor for the simulation applications (MS-FS9/FS-X) since they perform the best; my personal experience.
At this moment I am using GTX580 and I wouldn't go for the 680, since the FR gain is not worth the price; well, unless my mother-in-law pays the bill .
If I would have a low- or medium-en graphic card/system then I would consider upgrading, but do not forget ... the chain is as strong as its weakest link. Therefore I would advice to save the money a while longer so you will be in position to build yourself computer which will do the job for another 3-5 years. I believe you can get a nice performing computer for € 1200-1500 (excl. monitor).

Hammer, would you consider upgrading a GTX285 to a 580?
I can run DCS quite comfortably, but I do have some slowdowns now and then, especially with TIR in precision mode.
But at the same time I believe DCS is quite easy on your video hardware and RAM and CPU plus harddisk bandwidth might make more of a difference... ?

I know I would....I also run dcs fairly well on a 250 on medium high settings but once we got 10 aircraft on the ramp yesterday I had some major frame rate hits....with a 580 that would be minimal and a 680 non existant...thanks joyride for that report....hate you so much haha

Once I finally get a hold of my 680 I would be happy to donate my 5970 to a needed 476th member...

I'd buy two, but then I couldn't afford my monthly bottle of The Balvenie 21 y/o Port Wood Cask. Alcohol above frame rates!!
