Question. Lately it seems like DCS has changed the functionality of the AGM so that it takes into consideration that the seeker needs to be within the Keyhole window (http://www.476vfightergroup.com/show...ick-Employment). Granted it may just be that I fly worse/different than I used, but for the sake of the argument lets asume that DCS takes into account the keyhole window.

By adjusting the boresight using LAPTO and ADE procedure e.g. for a medium altitude (150 mils) launch I can set the AGM seeker so that it stay more naturally within the keyhole window, right? I mean within lock distance it would mean less maneuvering of the aircraft to keep seeker within keyhole window, compared to the default low altitude 70 mils?

No, a new boresight just changes where the seeker (and therefore the pointing cross) rests when caged. The keyhole is centered on the missile's physical longitudinal axis, so a 150 mil boresight just means the pointing cross would default to a position about 8.5 degrees below center.

On IR Mavericks, the Keyhole is a 10 degree radius circle around the missiles physical axis, with a small 5 degree extension at 6 o'clock to 15 degrees.

On CCD Mavericks, the keyhole is just a 10 degree circle with no extension.

Who knows what ED has actually modeled; they don't document anything.

Hansolo, I'm glad you noticed that also. It does appear atleast in 1.5 that there is an effort to be closer to real world parameters for the keyhole. I recall our MAV run in the Joint OP that I was at Angels 180 and had to lower my nose considerably to get out of NO TRACK LAUNCH IHBT. Where before you seem to be able to launch well outside the Keyhole.

It does warrant further testing to ensure they are working the Keyhole.

Again, to reiterate, the keyhole pictured several times in this thread is only valid for IR Mavericks. CCD Mavericks are just a circle.

Rog, on the Mav, it was a 65 Delta.

And yes Dojo, I had a nose bleed way up there. Should have said FL180

Thanks for clarifying Noodle. Got it backwards but I think I got it now. You have already stated the benefits of readjusting boresight.
Boresighting more accurately places HUD symbols, which minimizes the time required to lock on the desired target by reducing or eliminating the slewing.
And as you stated it's imperative that the procedure is done everytime in RL. Thanks a lot

Yeah Gunny. After a few misses I consulted with Tacview and found that they just went straigh and into the ground. Then I remembered reading about the keyhole by Stuka and did a few test where it looks like the keyhole is implemented. I know this is not the correct forum but just can't understand why ED cannot just say changelog "We implemented keyhole launch windows for AGM's".

    Cheers
