Well it happened, I shot Stuka (how long have I been waiting to say that). Quite an interesting debrief, lots of learning points. And a fair amount of mocking of my reaction (I was as surprised as he was).

Da FAC?
And to be completely correct on this one: only a flesh wound. made it back to base code 2.
Providing CAS when you're all out of HUA!
Still counts.
Eddie, your reaction was priceless! Sounded like a kid at Christmas getting the best present ever.
Nice reaction time, too. Another couple of seconds and you'd have been too close for a RADAR shot, as I see it.

Now that is how patches should be dreamed up. Good idea Howie.
An Rmin faceshot. Niiiiice!
Stuka, what were your RWR indications throughout the engagement? Did the CMSP select a good expendable program? The program seemed to be pretty flare heavy; were you expending chaff as well?
Eddie, perhaps you can answer these in the Aggressor forum: Did you use GCI/AWACS? Were you TALLY or NO JOY? Were you planning on merging? What were your commit criteria? Once merged, what were your separation criteria?
Hahaha that was Owesome! There was certainly no 'act like you've been there before' after that "kill" LOL

Noodle, I was Stuka's wingman, we were in hot on our attack target with CBU97s, shooter shooter in left close wedge formation. On our 1st run, as he was trying to pickle, we got a MSL warning, which was trashed. Stuka of course went off dry and defensive, and instructed me to continue with my attack. Went in hot, pickled, egressed east as planned, and took a bullet from a Shilka, no major damage besides CICU.
At this point there was still nothing on the RWR besides As and DEs AFAIRemember.
Turned around quickly, Stuka went in hot with a Mav and I was supporting, and before he called Rifle, I got a MSL warning, we both called in Missile Launch on the radio, and I saw the mid-air explosion front row center. Still nothing on the RWR. We had expended flares at the same time when we heard the MSL warning.
FYI I was using program C for CMSP, so lots of flares but no chaffs. I assume Stuka had the same program loaded.
We both came to the conclusion it was possibly an SA-18 firing at us, as nothing was visible on the RWR. We then departed the AO to RTB since he was shot pretty badly.
The weird thing is, we were constantly monitoring AWACS, and never once was a return call made where we'd think a Mig-21 was anywhere close to us.
A great mission and lots of good stuff learned. Watching Eddie's video was highly constructive as well.
We will post up a debrief in the 65th forum over the next day or so. Lots of things identified in our debrief, the big thing being, fighters close distance very quickly.
