My understanding of the active use of the guard channel is to allow us to notify anyone, within radio range monitoring the channel, if we have an emergency.

The only specific reference I could find in the DCS A-10 manual that discusses actual transmission on the guard channel says that you should use it after an ejection (something that I believe was not possible with TARS). Is that an option now with Aries?

Further, when is it appropriate to use the guard channel while still in the aircraft? If you are facing an ejection you may not have time to switch to guard to transmit such...that I understand. Does taking superficial damage to the A-10 warrant a broadcast on Guard or only if systems are damaged? Could someone elaborate or point me to the docs that discusses Guard use...I honestly don't remember coming across it before.
