    DSMS Profile Naming Methodology Help

I've been reviewing MQT 3 today, for my own review to work on areas that I'm weak on. I ran into a question that I can't answer for myself in DSMS Profile Naming Methodology. I understand (for the most part) using the 8 alpha/numeric system for characters 1-5 and 8 but I don't understand what characters 6 & 7 should be for the "two characters identify the delivery type". Is there a table somewhere that I'm not keying in on?

    DSMS Profile Naming Methodology Help

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0SY...p=docslist_api

I've made this for myself as an addition to the Battle Book back in the days when I didn't have access to the 476 docs and when I/we/the community had to collect and combine knowledge from several unconnected posts on ED and SimHQ. It was fun to try and compile documentation but boy it took some work! Fortunately, nowadays I just check the private DL section over here.

Thanks JayPee. I thought those were the abbreviations...but you know what happens when you assume something.

I am sure not every single option of delivery type and angle is mentioned but I'm confident the examles in this sheet are sufficient to determine the profile name according to the convention.

I'm sure this is going to come across wrong but IMO I would reference the official 476 documents especially since this is covered in detail in the MQT document.

I've noticed that we lack any guidance on rocket delivery type naming conventions for DSMS profiles unlike with just about every other delivery method and weapon combo I can think of off the top of my head. We obviously have the rocket types themselves listed.

Obviously I could BS my way through the naming conventions for them but I am curious if there's going to be any interest in homologating rocket naming conventions as we have with just about every other kind of delivery type and weapon type combo. I could make the presumption that since we rarely use rockets we've just overlooked this. Is there another reason why these wouldn't be as thoroughly named as other types of delivery?

Now as an example my BSing might come up with for a 10' loft rocket firing Seven M151 rockets something like HE 10LR7.

Yeah, maybe not a bad idea to come up with something, so that we could differentiate between delivery types.

Why would you need to though? There are no setting differences in the profile for different deliveries, aside from loft rocket using ccrp. You're not going to need multiple rocket profiles for a single rocket type.

Training min alt and SEM setting, but then that would assume the abort cues worked. Also the sleds use the same naming conventions not that that's necessary for sorting them.

Profiles for flares and forward firing ordnance (FFO) such as AGM-65 and rockets exist only for weapon arming purposes, so they only get one profile per weapon type. In other words, you might have profiles named HE, WP, and 65, but you wouldn't have something like HE 20TR7.

The MIN ALT for FFO deliveries are typically determined by the squadron Weapons Officer and found in the squadron Battle Book.
