Gents, I'm using an iPad mini so I don't have the luxury of a large screen. I'm looking to crop the PDF files by cutting off the white margins, any of you know of a tool to do so? Googling returns mainly larger softwaresuites which include that functionality but I'm actually looking for a smaller and free solution.

If you have Office, you can take screen grabs of the PDF, paste into PowerPoint (set up for the size you want) and crop, then save the PowerPoint as a PDF. Depending on how many pages you are trying to do this with, that may be a long solution. It works well for checklists but if you are cropping high res graphics or small print, you might lose some readability in the copy/paste process. But its free to try. Only other way I have made PDFs is using Adobe Pro but that is definitely not free.

The screenshot method isn't going to work for me.. I was thinking of trimming the margins off of pretty much every 476 PDF that I would ideally carry with me on the kneeboard during a flight. That's going to be a lot of files and a lot of pages.

Some of us have an app called GoodReader and use an iPad as our kneeboard. I used to print everything but that got pricey pretty quick. It's not free but I think it was 5 USD.

Goodreader is great app. That's what we used in the squadron and what I've got on my iPad as well.

Took me some time to find it, but https://www.cutepdf-editor.com seems to do the trick. Free, online, easy!

    I'm more of a paper guy: https://twitter.com/geraldbolso1899/...244801/photo/1

and I always have a mini notepad with a pen to write stuff down on the go.

I use my tablet once in a while, but I don't like having to be careful with it, since im flipping switches and looking up and down, with the paper checklist i can just throw it on the table. Not to mention the weight of it VS a tablet.
