Hi all,
I was just wondering how you were flying your formation instrument trail departures? What parameters are you fixing to keep spacing (climb rate, climb angle, speed, throttle setting, etc)?

20 second interval, lead maintains 200 kts 750 ITT. All other aircraft maintain 1000 ft vertical separation.
Awesome, thanks, Something to practice.

All pilots should also be calling 2000ft intervals over radio to ensure separation is being maintained. It's the responsibility of the following pilots to maintain that separation.
The quoted procedure is indeed how we currently have it written in the 3-3 manual. However, I advocate a real-world interpretation of this procedure where the Flight Lead calls passing each 2,000ft increment, and each wingman responds in flight position order with his/her current altitude (even if it's not a 2,000ft increment). This ensures that lead is setting the pace, enables orderly and concise comms, and enhances SA.
If each flight member simply calls out every time they pass an increment, then flight members will be barking out altitudes in random order and it will be difficult for the wingmen to build SA and make meaningful adjustments to his/her vertical separation.

This makes sense, however, we shouldn't leave this to a thread as such, as it will die here, and will lead to 3 people doing it one way, 20 doing it another. If you CS folk agree, can we amend the -3 to give special mention? I see no need to change the contracts.
Until the TTP changes or an announcement is made by Command Staff do it as written.
Yo Dojo,
There are numerous changes/additions to the 3-3 coming, and this is one of them. However, not all chapters have been revised yet, and all the changes will need to be reviewed and approved by CS, so it might take a little more time.
If CS would like to upload incremental versions each time a chapter is revised and approved, then that might hasten the process. That's a discussion for a different forum , obviously.
Edit: Sniped!

So are adjustments made by choosing a new throttle setting and then altering attitude to maintain 200kts?
