Now Howie, don't blame Amazon, if it's been out for delivery since 11am, Amazon did an outstanding job of getting your parcel to your carrier as expected, blame the driver of your delivery service whom ever they may be, he probably stopped for lunch, met up with a girlfriend, smoked a joint and totally didn't give a shit whether you got your package or not......well, that's how it works in the US anyway.

Hope it arrives soon buddy, I know your chompin at the bit !

All finally arrived and installed. I have to say, the Samsung data migration software worked flawlessly. In 10 minutes my old SSD was copied onto the new one which booted straight into windows, no bother.

Whacked the other 8GB of ram in and upgrade complete!

I love it when a plan comes together.

Make to run magician and confirm performance and optimization settings. I have a friend who ran his off of a 3gb interface for over a year and had no idea.

Yep, already done that and made sure it's plugged into the 6Gb sata port.

Now I'm sitting around thinking that my 1600mhz ram is too slow, my CPU is too old and my graphics card could be better...

I don't think the urge to upgrade can ever be truly satisfied

Um, I'm pretty happy right now It's a matter of perspective. i.e. Given your display hardware, does the game look good or feel slow, and most critically, perform well. Period. Benchmarks tend to be over utilized.

I'll re-evaluate once we have Oculus.

Well, my display is still terrible so I can't just justify upgrading anything!

Definitely going to bag myself a rift when they're available though so might need some more horsepower for that.

I'm hoping a beastly graphics card will cover it as I won't be able to afford a whole new system for a while.

Anyone else here got an 850 Evo and Samsung magician software installed?

I ran the Samsung magician benchmark a few time and my read/write iops seem to be around 70,000 when they should be hitting 90,000.

Not sure if this is because of my sub-million-pound computer or something else.

For reference, I'm in AHCI mode and plugged into an Intel 6Gbps sata port.

Could one of you supercomputer toting billionaires run the same benchmark and see what you get? Thanks!

Edit: Found a few tips I'm gonna try out tonight.

Use Intel IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) SATA controller drivers instead of the default microsoft ones.

In the BIOS under Advanced for the Storage section there is an option for SATA Aggressive Power Management or something like that, disable it.
