    Nellis STRYK Recovery

    All:

I put together a short tutorial on how to fly the STRYK VMC Recovery to Nellis AFB. The STRYK Recovery is used for aircraft recovering from the west of Nellis and is a VMC only procedure. Use caution in the area between STRYK and GASS PEAK due to numerous light civil aircraft practicing in the North Las Vegas Training Area.

The chart is attached for your reference. Enjoy.

Yep, HD now... it's typical for YouTube to process to HD.

But more importantly, NOODLE VIDS ARE BACK.

    Outstanding.

I plan on doing something very similar myself. I was thinking of doing the tac west & north departures first, once I'm familiar enough with them of course.

Awesome video Noodle, thanks for making these.

One little term I didn't recognise is the 'T-Lar' (I think?) method? For your overhead break. Could somebody explain?

    "That Looks About Right"

It means I forgot to pick a reference point abeam the break point while I was coming up initial, so when it came time to break I had to estimate my position.

    W H A T?!

It's been more than 24 hours since you've had Nevada on your machine, and I haven't seen ONE video of a weapons release tutorial! NOT ONE!

Now you go to your corner, and you come back out when you've satiated by desire for SEMs over Nevada.

There is, actually. For each base there is a Local Flying Procedures manual that stipulates all kinds of rules and regulations specific to operations at that base. A standard (preferred) break point is usually one of the things that is specified. Most times the break point is over the numbers at the approach end of the runway.

For locally assigned aircraft, you're expected to fly the local procedure. For transient aircraft, ATC will direct where you break. In either case, ATC can and does move the break point due to traffic/spacing considerations. This is especially true at Nellis where things get very busy. When a flight reports "initial", it is common to hear the Tower respond with "break midfield" or "break departure end".

Regardless of whether you're executing the local procedure or you received ATC instructions, simply pick a landmark abeam the desired break point and use that as the reference where to begin your break.
