I might be overcomplicating things here. I assume pilot discretion is involved.

Flying through the different departures and approaches at Nellis, and in the before taxi checklist you guys use, step 48 and 49: turn off ILS and TCN, prior to taxi, and to check its set in the before takeoff check.

Until now I have just left it on and flown the departures, enjoying the view.
Im wondering if anyone knows why it should be off, or if im reading it wrong?

Did a bit of searching in the A10A flight manual. It actually says to leave it off if radio silence is imposed, and that certain channels in A/A interfere with IFF. Didnt know that!

Really just knitpicking but hey, why dont ask and learn.
