    Wheel Stand Pro

I wanted to share this for those of us that dont have an ubutto or any other gaming cockpit. This product is called a wheel stand pro and they sell a version with a plate specifically for the warthog stick as a center mount. I was a bit skeptical but I had to give it a shot. And this thing is amazing. It so well engineered that it feels like its bolted to the floor. There is no play at all in the stick..it is rock solid and the pedals are bolted to it as well which is terrific. For those of us that have our sim on a desk the arm holding the stick easily folds down and you can just move it out of the way. When you want the stick in its normal position you just put it where you want it and lock it in place. I cant figure out how I lived without this bit of kit for so long. I consider this a must have for those of us flying on a desk. Check it out...maybe give it a shot! Its awesome!

While this and other options look great, they don't fix the issue I'd have when doing it. My desk is 70cm deep and placed against a wall. To make use of the desk space, my monitor is placed on it against the wall. If I'd make a construction which puts the stick in front of the desk (regardless if to the side or centered), I'd sit way too far from the desk to conveniently see the A-10C pit on a 1080p screen.

That's why I'm asking this, say I'd put my HOTAS stick like in a Viper, on the side, what would be the ideal position in terms of height? Would my elbow have to make a 90° angle? Curious to see what others do. I have no side tables available to test for myself so before I buy anything I'll base myself off opinions of others.

    Oliver,

I use two very sophisticated stands on the side for my throttle and stick...link below. The Bud Light pads just unscrew and you have a flat, stable metal stand. Or keep them on for that NASCAR feel!! They work well for me, are comfortable and make it easy to transform my office back to a normal office when needed. Arm position is very natural, you can see where my elbows tend to rest.

I have a similar situation Oliver, but my monitor is on a small metal table a little shorter than the tops of my Cougar MFDS. So when I fly I just pull that table to the edge of the desk and on the front are my MFDs that then use the table as a backstop so the don't slide when I hit the buttons. This way I just slide it closer to me when I fly and away from me when I need the desk. It works great. I don't have the biggest monitor so I need it close.

@Tex what size is that monitor behind your right MFD?

Both MFDs have the 8" Lilliputs.

Tex did you drill holes in the side table and screw the stick onto it? I wonder how it would perform if I don't screw it onto the surface on which it's standing.

I didn't need to drill any holes, they are plenty stable without. If you wanted to though, it would be easy enough to do.
