Hot Plug & Play in DCS

I'm really surprised, as big a deal for us as this is, that ED didn't make more of it:Hot Plug & Play is now working as of 1.5.4. After reading that in the changelog today, Noodle and I decided to test, and noted the following:

Being in sim without any particular controller detected, simply plug in the controller, and voila, that controller is fully functional in sim. So of course, the one "controller" that this tends to be the most common problem for is TrackIR. Tested, it works!

There's a specific consideration for TrackIR however. Most of the time, when we "forget" our TrackIR, it's due to the software not running, either because we didn't start it or it crashed. Technically, DCS can't determine that because the USB driver is still loaded. The solution is simple: Start the TrackIR software, and unplug/re-plug the TrackIR. DCS will instantly recognize it without exit, and even give you a textual confirmation of the TrackIR detection.

No more restarting/reconnecting due to forgetting a "controller". Will be great once added to 2.0.

Or disable/re-enable TIR in Device Manager if your TIR USB wire is hidden at the back of your box and you'd rather not unplug it. It kind of simulates hardware being plugged in again.

    Nice feature of ED!

Saw this recently on Hoggit - Awesome feature.

Thanks Oliver for that, my TIR wire is virtually impossible to get to without some serious yoga skills!
