Broken toe brake on Saitek rudder pedals

Yesterday I push the brakes and something on the inside goes "CLACK". What you know, the right toe brake doesn't want to return back up to position but just stays down, unless I have my foot on it.

Lame, really, why, now, no, dammit!

I then opened up the pedal and yap, a part of plastic snapped off. The part where spring is attached.

Oh well, have to think of something

Today after about an hour work wit some DIY imagination I fixed it.

Measured the spring position to where it should be, drilled a 2.5mm hole inserted hand bent a 3x30 (metric) screw with two nuts for each side. I shortened it about 10mm.

Put the pedal back in and make sure potentiometer is properly connected (1-2-3) by connecting pedals to PC.
If all works OK, apply some hot glue to wire guides for potentiometer and assemble.

Is it ABS? If so, brush some Acetone on both pieces and apply pressure. Acetone melts the plastic and should give you a pretty strong bond.

Edit -> just saw your reply, i think you are way better than me in DIY solutions

    Damn you Energy!!

You've apparently given my pedals ideas, and after 8 years they've decided they no longer want to be rudder pedals and would rather be a useless collection of plastic components.

New pedals on order as I thankfully managed to find a set on eBay as they're seeming out of stock everywhere else.
