    ¿New Mic?

So y'all know better than I do about how my mic sounds. I've been rewatching some old streams and oh boy it is bad at times. I've been thinking about getting a replacement for almost a year now. Should I get a new mic/headset/desk mic with seperate headset? If so, which setup would y'all reccommend?

Forget gaming headsets, they all suck for both mic and headphone audio quality. Go for a proper set of headphones and get an clip on/stick on mic.

Personally I use an Antlion Mod Mic with AKG K612 pros.

Are you saying the headphone audio quality in general sucks as well for gaming headsets, apart from the mic?

I went trough quite a lot of headsets, some of them gaming as well, and some do suck. Especially the MIC. However I am happy with my Blacksharks

I currently use a Razer Kraken 7.1. The audio quality is good (I think) but the mic isn't as good as I would like it to be. I want to get into using a premium headset and an auxilliary mic whether that be a desk mic or a click on. However, I have no idea what brands are best or where to even start. Sennheiser? Audio-Technica? Someone else?

    What's your budget?

I use Sennheiser PC 363D and I like them.

Those 7.1 USB ones, do they come with their own built-in soundcard/-chip or do I need specific hardware to use one and benefit from 7.1?

Also, does 7.1 over two speakers really work? I find it hard to imagine how that would yield the same effects as 7 speakers + a woofer..

$300 is too much for me right now. In the last few minutes I've been reading about the Sennheiser ATH-M50x. These are $170 and about the most I am willing to invest right now. Would you in general reccommend Sennheiser?

IDK about all the technical stuff but I plug it straight into my computer and there is software that handles the rest. You can calibrate it. I do get "3D" sound so I know where things are but it isn't spot on.

    Definitely recommend Sennheiser.

Oliver, the ones I have does have its own hardware. Its a USB soundcard that you connect the green and pink jacks into and then plug the USB into the PC.

Also I'm not picky with audio, the surround sound works for me. I've tried true headphones that have spot on audio and oh my was it awesome. The price tag wasn't awesome though. So I settle for something a little cheaper by $1k...
