Looking for a mechanical keyboard

All,

I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard. Based on descriptions I'd go for MX Cherry Red or Brown keys. Anybody have any experience with mechanical keyboards? Any tips or pitfalls to share?

Oh and, so far I'm leaning towards a Corsair K70 or K70 LUX.

I've got a K70 RGB and I'd certainly recommend it. The Corsair software isn't the best, everytime there is a new firmware release I end up having to contact their support and do a manual firmware update as it fails via CUE (nothing stops working, it's just annoying).

But the keyboard itself is great.

I use a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2014

Love the Mech keys. And it matches the TM Warthog and MFCD's color perfectly. The newest 2016 edition removed the Macro Keys from the side, which made me not go with it this year. If you never use Macros then it may not be an issue for you. Also it has the same heavy weighty-ness as the Warthog Approximate weight: 1500g/3.31lbs

They also make some Stealth Mech keys but I like the clicks

I don't use macro's at present but I might in the future.

@ Eddie, I've seen lots of images of K70s with weird "FPS gaming" caps on WASD and 1, 2,...6, is that something I can take off?

Mine doesn't have any such keys. Just plain black keycaps, don't know if the none RGB models are different.

I have a razor 2013 w/ MX Cherry Blue , loud and clicky. I love it
what I recommend is going to BestBuy fry's, microcenter, and try out what they have out on display to see with keys you like
