DCS Performance Benchmarking
I've been collecting some benchmarks, and the initial results have been surprising in relation to the 476th "heavy" mission, so I'd thought I'd share an initial snapshot. I'll provide a more in-depth look at the full test when I'm done.
Note: DCS is configured for all settings on max, with the exception of Civ traffic, which I've set to low. I'm running at 4K (3840x2160). Vsync is disabled for evaluation purposes.
Test machine: 6700K (Overclock intentionally disabled), GTX 1080 (no overclock), 16GB DDR4@2133Mhz. For the record, the only real difference I've observed on hardware utilization, is that the 476th mission is requiring about ~2GB more of GPU RAM (5.5GB to 7.4GB). The CPU utilization is about ~25% on both (moves betweeen 22-30%). GPU stays pegged at 99%, ~1800Mhz.
Scenarios 1: Start hot at Nellis runway 3R, A-10C, empty mission.
72fps straight ahead, ~61FPS when I look around.
Same scenario, but on our NTTR mission.
68fps straight ahead, ~61FPS when I look around.
Scenario2 : Hot, Facing Vegas.
55fps
Same, but on our mission:
52fps
Scenario 3: Flying down the Vegas strip - (we don't do this, but it's a taxing procedure hardware wise)
42fps
Same, but on our mission:
40fps
This is a dramatic difference than the last time I tested. I think it speaks to a few changes, both by ED, and the local airfield Stuka did a while back cleanup (although admittedly Nellis looks a little bland).
My full set of tests have a lot more details. I'll share my spreadsheet when I'm done.

Arg, had to re-test. Forgot to set Visibility to extreme. That dropped the results by about 3FPS on average. Initial results updated below.

So my new card hasn't arrived due to the bad weather here. So here's my partial testing from earlier today with the current gear:

Some really interesting performance noticed. After spending some time with it this afternoon, disabling ASW, I may start playing in the Oculus more.
Besides VR, really interesting to see how much better Nevada performs than 1.5 at this point. I really wasn't expecting that.
