    Pimax 8K VR Headset

This is looking rather promising and impressive. VR with enough pixels to actually see things properly and enough of an FoV to get rid of the "ski goggles" effect of the Rift.

We'll see when it arrives in the new year.

I’d take just the FOV increase. That would be a big improvement. But 4K VR head set would be awaking.

Supposedly a 1070 is sufficient to drive it as well, although I'm not sure you'd get DCS running at a decent FPS.

Highly unlikely IMO. I have a 7700k (no OC yet) with a GTX 1070 running on a regular ole' 1080p monitor. I still had to reduce some settings to get a constant 60FPS. On a large mission I still see drops down into the 40s but I just refuse to lower my settings any more than I have.
We get it up faster, keep it up longer, and shoot comm all over the world!

Yeah I'd be inclined to agree as far as DCS goes. I'm running the Rift on a 1080 and it start to struggle in some conditions (mostly on the ramp at Nellis) in out NTTR mission, as well as combat scenarios with high unit counts.

That said, if you're running VR at the moment with pixel density set to 1.5 or above the chances are you'll be getting similar performance with the Pimax 8k.

Bingo. The other reason to hope this is successful is to push OR and HTC from incrementing us to death with smallish improvements, as are their current plans.

Kickstarter is now up to $3.3 million so all stretch goals hit. Roll on March when I should get my hands on mine (I hope).
