    CCIP Invalid release

I was messing around with Mk-82s and some of the weapons sleds published in the 476 'battle book'. During low angle or even dive bombing profiles I am having a very hard time getting a the pipper on target before the MRS drops below it and I get an 'invalid release' X and have to abort. It seems like I have to stay at *much* higher altitudes to even have a chance at a good run. Im wondering if this is just bad technique, some error in setting up my DSMS profiles or if there is something else going on I havent considered. Thanks!

SLEDs altitudes are in AGL, you have to add the target elevation to those numbers (with the exception of min alt in the weapon profile). If you are already doing this and still have the same issue you might have to refine your technique.

You can refer the 476TTP3-3.A-10C in the public download section, under 1.3 Tactical Flight, from page 119 to better understand air to surface bombs employment.

Yes - I am using the radar altimeter to get my base altitude for low angle and adding target elevation to the base for my MSL for higher. I am scouring the TTPs trying to get it all down. The low angle runs it seems like if
They ever work you have a very small window of opportunity to get a valid release?

The problem I had when learning was also the base distance, if your too close/far it screws everything up as well.

I can’t remember if the profiles were built with a 3 or 5 second sighting time, but either way, consider that you’ve got at most 5 second from rolling wings level in the dive to release/abort. I think most people are used to flying at the target for a lot longer to get their eye in.

I’ll experiment with this a bit for sure. I’m guessing being too close is probably more of a problem? The dive being too steep and not being able to do the SEM in time?

Thanks Eddie that gives me some perspective. That’s not too much time to get everything just right! It seems like most of the time I roll in and before the PBIL even becomes solid I’ve alreadg got an invalid x

This is my biggest issue right now as well. It doesn't take but a tenth of a mile either way to not be able to match the sled figures.

Track times normally are related to your recovery altitude:
    • ≥4500’ recovery: 5 seconds
    • <4500’ recovery: 3 seconds

    Is this built-in in DAPS?
