F/A-18C Strobe light taxi?
In the F/A-18C Checklist:
Launch Cockpit Setup- Left Console- Step14- "External lights - Set . Strobe - ON"
then strobe lights arent mentioned again until
Before Takeoff- Step10- "Strobe Light - ON"
My question is whether this implies strobe lights should be off until just before takeoff and there is an error/typo, or is it just a check before takeoff to ensue the strobes are on?

From land, sorry should have said.

Smacks of being a redundancy.

Hmm I though it might be, perhaps it could be worded "Strobe Light - Check ON"

Well if they’re on from pre-taxi, then they should be on pre-takeoff (unless there’s some situation where you’re required to douse them)

I assume you have an older version of our Hornet checklist. Change 2 is published and has many corrections, including BEFORE TAKEOFF, 10. Strobe light -- Check

If your taking off from the boat it will be off until you are about to launch. On land it must be on at all times. Once in the air you can turn it off in certain situations. The takeoff checks are usually just that, checks. They’re meant to be a little redundant.
Warhawks!
