Welcome Agathorn. I'm also waiting for a training slot to open.

I have the Saitek Pro pedals and think they're great. I especially like the toe braking for realism. Assume the combat pedals are even better. Also when you can lay out the bucks, the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS are super - acurate and of course realistic. Finally, TrackIR is a necessity.

While waiting, you should be able to find lots of missions to download for practice beyond what's available in the SIM and go online via DCS and DCS World multiplayer and find open servers to join.

Hello, Agathorn! As I always say, "Thank you for serving!". It's an honor to have you here.

F/X, eh? I'm a big fan of Doug Trumbull, especially his work with David Dryer and Rick Uricich at the old EEG. As you've probably guessed I'm a big Blade Runner fan. Best in-camera effects movie ever made!

I digress. I hope you enjoy our little slice of hog heaven. (Hmm, may have to trademark that!). Please feel free to meet-and-great with us here and on TS. I know I'd love to pick your brain!

Finally, get the Warthog HOTAS with all deliberate speed. It's as much a game changer as Track-IR.

    Welcome Agathorn, indeed nice intro.

IMHO to fly the hog some hardware are a must-have like the TM Warthog, it ain't cheap but it's worth every penny.
And like Roto said: if you haven't got already, get yourself Track-IR

Thanks guys. I actually do have the TrackIR 5 though honestly while its cool it isn't quite as nice as I was hoping it would be. It works fine for looking around outside the cockpit but I feel its very awkward when i'm trying to find a switch to hit.

I downloaded an air to air refueling mission last night. I know that is going to be hard as hell lol. I only got one try at it but I spent like 5 minutes just trying to slide into formation and then just as I was almost there, the tanker called in RTB and left LOL!

Forgive me for asking but did you took the time to set it up right?
If you run the default profile i can imagine it feels awkard, way to linear.
What you want is to have it smooth on forward view but speeds up when looking into corners.
If you want ik can provide you my profile, just to try it out.
I also needed to get used to TIR in the beginning it felt strange to me to but once you get used to it you never wanna go fly without it.
And trust me, if you wanna fly the hog in combat, TIR is a must!
