For the price of the chair you could build the cockpit like Jedi and I have and you will still have some change left.

BTW, if you go for rudder pedals, go for CH not Saitek. I have Saitek's but I tried CH's once at Wendol's place ... oh god are they better.

I have had the CH Pro Pedals for over 10 years as well and they are fine. The only thing I hate about them is the noise they make (probably because of the bearings?).
There's also a pronounced deadzone in the middle (centered) position. Something I have never gotten used to.
But as far as technical stuff goes; they are rock solid and fail free.
I would think the Saitek Combat pedals to be more comfortable and more 'real' though, but if they are inferior in build quality then the CH's are a safe bet.

It's not the quality of them. It's the precision and movement. Saiteks have more tense springs, they have stiffer center "lock" and you really do not feel how much you are pushing down when you break.

All in all way better feeling, handling and results with CH pedals ... and they are cheaper
