    F-5 Tips, Tricks, and Suggestions

Figured I'd start this thread for now as the other thread is fairly general, and I'd like to keep this one clean and to the subject please. (challenges & alternatives to suggestions are of course welcome)

So most of us who've been playing with it have been introduced to the more challenging nosewheel steering. I have a simple solution that makes it work exactly as it does in the A-10 (i.e. toggle):

First, I'm using Eddie's proposed curves on the rudder: 32, deadzone of 5 for me.

Second, I mapped the nosewheel steering to the "EAC ARM" switch on the throttle. Now, essentially, I flip it on, and just steer as normal without "holding" a button, and deactivate it as necessary during lineup/roll. Works flawlessly. of course, use your button of choice, but it's loads easier with a flipped switch.

Third: Anyone trying to learn ANYTHING about startup and fuel balance should just read Snoopy's checklist. It. Just. Works. And it's quick and easy.

The pitch and roll seems overly sensitive and im playing with a deadzone of 2 and curvature between 12 and 20.

Not had chance to try it out but looks as though someone has a mod to make throttle 3-position switches functional for the F-5

Yeah, I've already pointed those who've been joining in with flying around in the F-5E over the weekend to this, but for those who aren't aware it's very much worth using.

belsimtek have already confirmed they will add more settings for the WH by default though.

How does one know if that file is working? I saw the thread but didn't understand what more if any thing else was required.

You'll see a new HOTAS category in the control config.

Have just filed the afterburner detent on the Warthog Throttles to make it a push selection for AB rather than a lift. Enclosed is a picture from Eddie of what to do

    Detent_Profile.jpg

@Eddie - what tuning settings are you using for the throttle axis with the detent?

And on the subject of tuning, am very interested to find out what curves people are using for the brakes, roll and pitch. Please post here!

    Pitch/Roll - none
    Brakes - 30
    Throttle L/R - 12

Are the values you quote simply for the curvature (i.e. no slider)?
And are they plus or minus values?

That would be a +12 curvature for the throttles and a -30 curvature for the brakes. Take note, in my case this causes a sort of exponential brake almost. I think this is what most people have, 25/30-ish.
